what i wore: first day of summer

As you may or may not know, Gemma Corell's "What I Wore Today" blog/Flickr group is now becoming a book!

She asked all doodlers to contribute their best "what I wore" drawing and she will select some to have published in her book.

Of course, typical me waits til the last day of the contest to enter... I spent a lot of time on this drawing but unfortunately all the little details I love are lost in the image. I also used the crappy work scanner, so this is definitely not the best represenation, but I do like the simplicity and semi-realism I have going on.

What do you think? Did anyone else participate in the contest?

What I Wore: First Day of Summer:
H&M sunnies
Rosebud salve
Gold tree necklace from Nyack
Orange silky tank
NY&CO flowy watercolor skirt
Dunkin iced coffee
Essie nailpolish
Tan satchel
Target platform sandals

Also, if you can see it, I have a sketchbook in my drawing that has this drawing in it. It's like a drawing within a drawing...

Have a good weekend & happy summer!

Another "What I Wore" drawing! Featuring my new trench-parka-windbreaker that I got on sale last weekend. I love it so :)

Let's just pretend I didn't take over a week to post this...

what i wore april 1

Good afternoon!

I wanted to post a lil drawing I did this weekend... Although it says Friday, I obviously did not wear this to work! But as soon as I got home changed into my favorite Navajo print sweater and put on some thigh high socks. So comfy. Perfect for a Friday night in :)

I hope to continue these drawings and eventually color them in! What do you think?

{inspired by} emma block

Hi there! I hope everyone had a great weekend...  I had a relatively quiet one consisting of lots of catching up on my Netflix (finally watched Lolita! ...actually I almost finished it, it's really long!!) and I worked on a new banner for my blog! Do you like it? I really love it, it feels so "me," and I'm hoping to make some matching buttons and such!

Moving on... today I'm totally inspired by Emma Block, a young illustrator studying at Middlesex University. I love the collage feel of her works, and the colors and patterns just make me so happy! I think I have a ton of "girl-crushes" on her illustrations :)

Be sure to check out her Etsy shop for some pretty goodies!

{inspired by} jeanloup sieff

This morning I'm inspired by French fashion photographer Jeanloup Sieff, who is famous for his themes of dancers and nudes in his work. He has also photographed many celebrities, including my new-found fashion inspiration, Jane Birkin.

Here are some of my favorites... I really love the simplicity along with the subtle textures and patterns!

{inspired by} kings & queens

Hey there strangers. I'm sorry I've been absent for a while... but the new year has been super busy!

I've been working a lot on some freelance projects, and in my spare time from that I have been trying to recuperate from a cold; AKA drinking lots of tea and working on my {what seems to be} never ending knitting project...

I wanted to share a couple awesome illustrations by the fashion illustrator Anne Charlotte Menegaux. I especially love her set of playing cards... more specifically the kings and queens. Aren't they clever?! I'm in love!

I hope this weekend to be back on my normal blogging schedule, as well as bringing you a very belated New Years mixtape and show you some of the work I've been doing too! Cheers!

the orphan's arms

I've been eyeing these pretty garments by The Orphan's Arms for a while now. They are a "quintessential English label" that produces hand-printed apparel in London.

I'm really loving the antiquity of their designs while keeping a modern feel... plus don't these shirts look comfy? I can't even pick a favorite... I want all of them!

what i wore june 21

Ok, it's definitely not June anymore, but I am wearing this skirt today so I thought it appropriate to post another "What I Wore" drawing!

I hope you like it despite my bad scanner and worse attempt at editing it...

what i wore june 16

Good afternoon! Here is another "What I Wore" drawing from June 16! I hope you like it, despite my terrible scanner...

I thought it was appropriate for today because I am wearing a different black and white striped shirt and the same necklace!

Also, check out my new Flickr page, where I will be posting more sketchbook drawings as well as anything else I am working on!

kate wilson

24-year old illustrator Kate Wilson has an impressive list of clients ranging from Marc by Marc Jacobs to the New York Times. Her artwork has a distinct style, using a stippling effect with simple and clean lines, topped with a silly sense of humor and vintage-inspired details.

I am super inspired by her "Little Doodles," and I hope you are too!
