vogue salon
A logo design that was in progress for most of last year was for Vogue Salon in my hometown of Nanuet, NY. I've actually been getting my haircuts there by John, the owner, since I was 12. We decided to barter logos for haircuts, and this was the result!
It has been really great getting to see the final logo on their business cards and window sign. It's now one of the most prominent signs on Main Street, and it still surprises me when I happen to drive past it.
Stay tuned for more projects in the coming days... I'm starting to get back in to freelancing and can't wait to share what I've been working on!
xoxo, gabrielle

letterheady
Letterheady
–adjective
1. overcome by a strong emotion due to a letterhead design.
~ ~ ~
Tumblr is very "hit or miss." There are a lot of treasures on that website, but it takes a lot of browsing through hipster-esque blogs before you find a good one actually worth looking at. Letterheady is a great example... it's focus is old letterheads by famous people and companies. It's concerned with the design, which is why these are all blank... but it would be nice to see a handwritten letter by, say, Sigmund Freud.
My favorite is by far Carl Van Vechten... what about you??
Stay tuned for a craft fair post soon!

mark addison smith

Mark Addison Smith uses hand drawn typography to illustrate things that he overhears and posts them on his blog, cleverly called "You Look Like the Right Type." Basically, they're awesome.

the notebook doodles
Happy Monday, all. I hope everyone had a nice weekend. I spent most of the weekend in Brooklyn, and I had a great time. Unfortunately, I am beyond exhausted today, to the point of not being able to support my own weight at my desk. Thinking about taking a nap at lunch today... But anyways, on to the real deal...
I am totally in love with the notebook doodles, a blog that combines quotes (and some original ones too) and typography, along with beautiful pictures and scanned images.
I find this blog really inspiring because not only do I relate to about 90% of the quotes used, but it's great to see other artists use quotes in their artwork. For me, I usually use song quotes that I like, and sometimes I even think of weird phrases that I can't get out of my head.
I hope you find these inspiring as well!

pretty things friday
Happy Friday everyone! Here is the almighty Pretty Things Friday. Apologies for not posting much this week, or a PTF last week- I've actually had to work at work. Who would've thought?
Enjoy my loves.
Pretty much Carli and I.

Pretty mustache tea cups and saucers.

A ridiculous amount of pretty lace.

Animals and pretty patterns.

Pretty much what I (try to) do.

More mustaches! Pretty typographically nerdy.

Pretty freaky.

Pretty embroidered white bread.

Pretty deliciously fabulous.

Pretty strange.

Pretty fucking cute.

Pretty cute matches.

Pretty intense.

Pretty SEXY.

Pretty elelelelelephant.

Pretty awesome.

See ya next week!
