photoshoot with matthew alexander

Hello there!

I wanted to share some photos that Matt took of me on Saturday when we had a little photoshoot. It was perfect timing, since I ended up getting my haircut that morning and surprising him when I got to Brooklyn!

I really, really love my new hair; it's so refreshing. I was in a dilemma of whether to keep it long or go really short, so I think this is the best of both worlds. I can still do almost every hairstyle, but now with less hair. I have such thick hair anyway that it doesn't even feel much different.

Anyways, here are the pictures! I hope you like them :)

Be sure to check out Matthew's new blog as well!!

{inspired by} maia flore

Hello! Sorry I've been neglecting this lil blog... I have so many things to post but I always get so distracted on the internet! I've also been wanting to post a March mixtape, but at this point I might as well wait for April... unless you say so otherwise :)

Here are some incredible photos entitled "Sleep Elevations" by French photographer and artist Maia Flore... I can't really find out anything about her, but I'm so intrigued by her work. I love the spot on her website called Diary. Everything about it is so magical! I hope you enjoy!

{inspired by} dan mountford

Hi there! How has your week been? Mine has been filled with much driving and lots of traffic! I'm totally ready for spring, and this cold, wet weather is really driving me crazy... boo.

Anyways! I found these amazing photographs by Dan Mountford, a graphic design student at Brighton University. I love his double exposure photos. They were actually created using film, not Photoshop! Check out his Flickr for more photography, and his Bigcartel store for prints!!

Enjoy. And stay dry.

{inspired by} niki jones

I completely fell in love with everything from Niki Jones, an online shop that specializes in beautifully detailed homewares and quality furniture.

Their philosophy is also really admirable; they support developing countries by keeping traditional craft skills alive. Their patterns and styles range from Uzbek and Icelandic, to Moroccan and Suzani, creating colorful and unique combinations.

Take a peek and tell me which is your favorite! Personally, I want all the pillows :)

{inspired by} sarah ogren

Hi there! Today I am apparently feeling inspired by mixed media & collages... it seems that every artist's portfolio I come across is either a collage or some kind of mixed media project. Maybe it's a sign...

Anyway, I am really loving Sarah Ogren's artwork today. I love the use of old newspapers and illustrations incorporated into the beauty of the work. Each one feels like a little chapter of a fairy tale. I hope you enjoy these as well!

In other news, I've been extremely tired all week. I think it's the mixed messages the weather has been giving me. I just can't wait for spring already!!! Hurry up!

{inspired by} maira kalman

I've always been a fan of Maira Kalman, an artist, author and designer originally from Tel Aviv. Now living in New York, Maira continues her passion for art while incorporating her designs into books, magazines, and even commercial products.

I am very excited to learn that Maira Kalman is having an exhibition of her work at The Jewish Museum in New York, which opens March 11. The exhibition will be spanning 30 years of Maira's work, including over 100 original paintings as well as her less popular textiles, photography, and performances. I am definitely planning on checking that out!
