{redesign} starbucks

As the trend towards simplifying brands and logos continues in 2011, it is no surprise that the popular coffee shop Starbucks has begun to launch their redesigned logo for the new year.

Of course, the new logo features a simpler version of the popular and signature Siren... however the words "Starbucks" and "coffee" are no where to be found.

I'm not quite sure how I feel about the new logo... I don't necessarily agree that less is more, and I'm not thrilled on the shade of green. To me, it feels empty, plain, and not very inviting. I may or may not like the original 1971 logo better than all of them!

I am positive we will be hearing a lot about the controversy of the new logo...

Tell me what you think! I'd love to hear your opinion.

logo lundi

Happy Monday! How was your weekend? Mine was spent working on this never-ending project, which I will share with you all soon!

I haven't done a "Logo Lundi" in a veryyyy long time... so I thought that I would share this awesome infographic with you all displaying the most popular logo colors. Apparently no one likes purple!

Stay tuned!

don't mind the gap {or the square}

It seems like the Gap is trying to catch up with the {hip} times by rebranding themselves with a new logo... using Helvetica.

Don't get me wrong... I love Helvetica. But Gap has been around for a long time, and their rebranding is a big step in the wrong direction. What once was a classic, simple and clean logo has now been replaced with an overused typeface and a weird looking square gradient, that seems to be lingering in the corner without having a proper position.

So this leads me to ask a few questions...

Is this the beginning of Urban Gapfitters, or American Gapparel? Will this rebranding attract a younger crowd and will their models soon be appearing in ads as amature pornography?!?

We will just have to wait and see.

celeste prevost

I admit that I've been slacking horribly on the "design" part of my blog. I love great logos and branding, but recently nothing has stood out to me.  I did, however, come across Celeste Prevost, a designer who lives in San Francisco with an outstanding resume.

I'm totally digging the simple and clean designs of Celeste Prevost's portfolio. Great use of colors and patterns!

If you happen to know of any other designers out there who you'd like to see featured on the blog, leave a comment and I'll make it happen!

jessica hall burns

Talented graphic designer Jessica Hall Burns.

She has a great portfolio, but my favorite piece by far is the logo for Handsome Cycle Co. Who doesn't love mustaches these days, anyway?

bp's new logo

BP has a great logo so it's really such a shame about what's happening down south. They should consider changing their logo to one of these... designed by Draplin.

Or this one, from Alltop

Logo Lundi

After a nice four day weekend due to massive amounts of snow, it's back to work and back to mah bloggg. Here are a couple of amazing logos that I've found on the webz. Hope you enjoy!

I've seen this on some Bahamas commercials... I just love the different colors and how they simplified the shape of the islands to this design.

Elephants are one of the coolest animals ever, plus the origami & folded paper design is really in style.

Another origami style logo:

I don't know what this company is, but I just like it.

I love leaves. And double letters.

This is such a delish logo...

So simple but fun.

I love the style that graphics are leaning towards. You can see it everywhere from Stop&Shop and Walmart's new logos to those cute Pillsbury commercials. I've been reading some criticism about how it's not always possible to be so clean and simple in designs... but either way, I like it and I hope it is able to stay for a while.

Logo Lundi

C'est lundi once again. My first post in Logo Lundi is going to be creative coffee logos (appropriate for Monday... and because I'm tired and could really use some right now...)

Here are my faves that were highlighted in this blog.

This one's my favorite:

This one is because I'm partial to Firenze:

Love this one:

Very much my style:

Enjoy your Monday all!
