sketches

I did these two sketches in the car while driving up to Lake George last weekend. The first one is an attempted self portrait...not sure how closely it resembles me though. The second is just a face with some Kate Nash lyrics :) Don't ask me about what I was thinking when I put that hand in there... I know it's weird looking!

frida kahlo

Google never fails to remind me of important events and holidays, and today they have reminded me that it would have been Frida Kahlo's 103rd birthday. She has been one of the most influential painters in her time, and her popularity in the commercial world is steadily growing as her image is transformed into calendars, films, jewelry, and even furniture.

Here are some of her paintings to acknowledge this great artist. The first one is my favorite painting by her, called "Las Dos Fridas."
