work in progress

Good morning!

I just wanted to post a little update on what I've been working on for a while!

I started knitting this wrap/throw back in November and I'm making a lot of progress! I'm not sure what the pattern is called, but it's a row slip stitches worked on the purl side to create a row of loops. Learning new knitting techniques is exciting but it can also be very frustrating...

I'm not exactly sure how I will wear this. Even though I'm using a pattern for a "throw", I think it will look nice wrapped around like a shawl {especially good for the office} or even as a large chunky scarf. I guess I will see how much longer I can make it before I give up. Hopefully that will be soon while it's still cold out.

Speaking of cold... damn, it's going to be freezing this week! Stay warm everyone!

work & weekend

Wow, this week was kinda intense... and snowy!

First of all, I "officially" started my job as a real full-time employee on Tuesday! Yey! I know I keep saying that it's official, but Tuesday was my official, official day... so that was a nice start to the week!

I also have been super busy with some freelance projects... I wish one of them would end already, though.

I've been knitting away at my shawl/wrap that I started, it's coming along nicely :) Pictures soon, maybe?

And I have also been using my drawing tablet that I got for the holidays. I love it so much, I'm almost addicted to it! I can't wait to post some of the things I've been doing.

Finally... last week I bought a super comfy Navajo print tunic from UO, and I've been living in it since. I love this picture, which reminds me of it, and how much I want to be comfy!!!

I can't wait for the weekend so I can be warm and cozy...

Happy weekend!

{inspired by} bella foster

Hello! I know I've been slacking big time on le blog but, as usual, life is busy...

I wanted to share an awesome artist named Bella Foster, who lives and works in Brooklyn. I love her choice of vibrant colors, and her subject matter is very intriguing {her blog is called "Bella Foster's Paintings of Other People's Stuff}

Enjoy!

Coming up this week... a new mixtape and a new banner!!! Get excited! :)

{inspired by} kings & queens

Hey there strangers. I'm sorry I've been absent for a while... but the new year has been super busy!

I've been working a lot on some freelance projects, and in my spare time from that I have been trying to recuperate from a cold; AKA drinking lots of tea and working on my {what seems to be} never ending knitting project...

I wanted to share a couple awesome illustrations by the fashion illustrator Anne Charlotte Menegaux. I especially love her set of playing cards... more specifically the kings and queens. Aren't they clever?! I'm in love!

I hope this weekend to be back on my normal blogging schedule, as well as bringing you a very belated New Years mixtape and show you some of the work I've been doing too! Cheers!

vintage eyeglasses

Happy Friday lovlies! This week was a rough one... perhaps it was because it was the first week back at work after a long vacation. Who knows!

I've been on the prowl lately for a new pair of light-colored glasses. I already have a pair of big black ones, but it never hurts to have more than one, right ;) They are such a fun accessory that can make any outfit pop. It will be hard to just pick one!

I'm looking for large frames with thin rims, and I am loving the tortoise color of these.

Here's what I've picked out from Etsy, of course! Now it's up to you to help me decide which ones I should go for! Comment away.

Personally, I'm really digging the top pair.

{redesign} starbucks

As the trend towards simplifying brands and logos continues in 2011, it is no surprise that the popular coffee shop Starbucks has begun to launch their redesigned logo for the new year.

Of course, the new logo features a simpler version of the popular and signature Siren... however the words "Starbucks" and "coffee" are no where to be found.

I'm not quite sure how I feel about the new logo... I don't necessarily agree that less is more, and I'm not thrilled on the shade of green. To me, it feels empty, plain, and not very inviting. I may or may not like the original 1971 logo better than all of them!

I am positive we will be hearing a lot about the controversy of the new logo...

Tell me what you think! I'd love to hear your opinion.

to resolve project

Hi there and happy new year!

I came across a blog by Chris Streger called Motherland Design. It's a perfect blog for anyone who appreciates good design and typography.

Streger started a project called To Resolve, which was to have designers and artists illustrate their new years resolutions, which will then be converted into iPhone wallpapers. I think it's a clever way to remind yourself of your resolution every day... but it's also great to see the designs of awesome artists!

I will post a few that I find particularly relevant to me... maybe one of these days I will get around to posting my own resolutions!
